Contuck Preserve is located in Polk County - one of the most desirable rural communities in Western North Carolina. The area is known for its mild climate due to the “Thermal Belt” phenomenon- where warm air settles and moderates the temperatures making it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This allows for most outdoor activities to be enjoyed year-round.
Several unique towns- Tryon, Lake Lure, and Chimney Rock- are nearby. Money Magazine has listed Tryon as one of the top ten retirement communities. Tryon also offers a well-established equestrian community with steeplechase, dressage, hunter-jumper, and carriage-driving events throughout the year.
Just 9 miles away sits Lake Lure- a scenic lake situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains offering some of the best waterskiing in the country. National Geographic has called this lake one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. The 720-acre lake is surrounded by mountains, offers incredible views, and has a unique public Beach area with waterslides and games.
Chimney Rock is a must-see attraction drawing tourists from across the nation to its State Park, waterfalls, and natural rock formations high atop the Hickory Nut Gorge. The village also offers unique stores, restaurants, and ice-cream shops for family-friendly excursions.
The area surrounding Contuck Preserve has so much to offer in terms of golfing, scenery, hiking, watersports, restaurants, and entertainment. It’s easy to see why residents of Contuck Preserve feel privileged to relax and recharge here.
