The design philosophy behind Contuck Preserve is to create a community where homeowners feel as if they are living on their own private preserve. Planning large lots was a key factor in creating this atmosphere. While current zoning codes would have allowed for 1-acre lots, the developers saw the need to increase the lot size to enhance the future owners privacy. With an average lot size of 4-5 acres, homes will be surrounded by ample green space and natural settings. The purpose of Contuck Preserve is to preserve the land around us; coming up with eco-friendly designs and enjoying the natural amenities the Green River and Blue Ridge Mountains offer.
Our select builders focus on using energy-star technology, recycled materials, and natural products.
Our future is connected to our past. The owners purchased this 104-acre development in 2004 from the Bowater Company. Bowater had logged the property and then meticulously replanted it with North Carolina (Loblolly) pines. The renewed pine forest is now about 10 years old; tall enough to provide privacy, but short enough to allow our residents to clearly see their panoramic views.
When the owners first purchased this property, they originally bought 64 acres with the plan to just build a private retreat for themselves. But they quickly saw a need to save the land around them from other developers who were moving into some areas and cutting down all the trees in order to be more lucrative and create more homesites.
It has been the owners mission to preserve the natural beauty of this land and their dedication shows by allowing a maximum of just 22 lots within Contuck Preserve.
The restrictions and covenants further protect the area with strict guidelines on cutting trees and square footage of homes. Such strong dedication will ensure this Viewtiful land will be around for generations to enjoy!
